Spur Off Radial Circuit
If the circuit is wired in 6mm then you would branch off with 6mm.
Spur off radial circuit. Ive drawn up a radial circuit diagram of how i think i would do it. How to wire a radial circuit. You can add as many sockets as you want but you would have to stick with the same cable size i e. There will be no lighting off this circuit.
Clearly a new circuit as has its own protective device. Oh i was unaware of that i thought it had to follow the rule of no more spurs than number of outlets allready on the circuit by outlets i mean sockets fsu etc the only radial circuit exempt was lighting or so i thought thanks i dint. Multiple spurs off a radial circuit could be a sign of poor design. Spur taken off of radial circuit with multiple sockets using a fused unit.
I would have considered this as a new radial circuit. It s a radial circuit so technically it wouldn t be a spur. I read in several threads on the topic of radial circuits not necessarily on this forum that although a 32a protected circuit has to be wired in 4mm cable spurs may be taken from a socket on the circuit and wired in 2 5mm cable. This i would have called a radial.
So question is why is the cable from the fcu called a spur. That is only one spur per socket is allowed and the number of spurs must not exceed the number of sockets. The space in question is approx 6x7 metres. Think ive got mor.
Fused spurs as many sockets as you want but remember the maximum 13a fuse in the spur. Does this all looks ok and is it ok to have two fused spurs off the one circuit. Finding it difficult to understand how with a radial you can spur off spurs without overloading the cable. I ll install all the wiring and sockets myself then get an electrician in to check and connect up to the house fuse box.
Now if you spur off that spur your current could be 52amps so overloading the cable. A spur can be connected to an existing socket on either a ring main or a radial circuit providing that socket does not already have a spur. Keep the number of spurs as low as possible. A radial circuit is a radial circuit and you take as many extensions from it as you want.
Quite possibly another dull question from me myself or i or whatever the grammer police might say was doing a little investigation under the bathroom floor earlier and ive found a few spur on spurs on me socket radial circuit with god knows how many junction boxes. Regulations to bear in mind. Using 1 5mm sq cable is acceptable after a fused spur but best practice is to keep with 2 5 mm sq.
